Is This the Fall You Replace Your AC?

Monday, October 10th, 2022

air-conditioning-systemYou probably haven’t given too much thought to your home’s air conditioning recently—mostly because of worries over hurricane issues. Thankfully, the year’s did less damage than expected to the Tampa Bay area, and many homeowners are going to turn their thoughts to more prosaic preparations for the rest of the year.

But why think about your air conditioning in St Petersburg, FL at this time? There are several reasons. First, your AC may have sustained water damage during the hurricane. If you have any suspicions about this, please contact our team right away to make an inspection and help you with decisions about what’s best for your AC. This also applies to your heating system.

Second, fall is always an excellent time to consider whether you need to replace an aging air conditioner that hasn’t sustained hurricane damage. If it isn’t, the slower fall season easily accommodates scheduling an installation with our professionals.

Enormous Cooling Costs? Let’s Find Out What’s Wrong

Monday, June 21st, 2021

money-up-the-chimneyLiving in Florida means you can expect to see bigger electrical costs during the summer months. Air conditioning systems consume enormous amounts of electricity compared to most other appliances in a house, and there isn’t any way to get around using an air conditioner during our summers. Not if you don’t want to be absolutely miserable.

You probably already have a general idea of what the electric cost increase in summer will be. You may need air conditioning repair in St. Petersburg, FL, and below we’ll look into some of the possibilities behind a cooling system that has turned into an energy hog.

How Water Can Leak from Your AC

Monday, May 10th, 2021

water-dropletsWhen you listen to your air conditioning system running during the summer, you’ll occasionally hear the sound of dripping water. Your air conditioner doesn’t use water to cool the house (there’s a separate type of cooling system called an evaporative cooler that uses water, but these are rare in Florida); the sound you’re hearing is moisture drawn from the air as the AC goes through its cooling cycle.

For the most part, you don’t need to think about this water—an air conditioning system is designed to remove moisture from the unit and either allow it to drip outside or enter into the wastewater system. But like any component in an air conditioner, the parts designed to remove water can malfunction, and this is why you might see water dripping from your AC.

Rating Your AC’s Performance Over the Summer

Monday, October 12th, 2020

hand-drawing-checkboxAlthough Florida air conditioning systems never get extended breaks, even during winter, the end of the year is the best time to consider making significant changes to a home’s central AC. The weather cools down a bit and you’ll have more time to arrange for a convenient replacement for an aging air conditioner—if that’s what you need.

Is this the fall season when you stop with air conditioning repair in St. Petersburg, FL, and instead opt to have our technicians install a new air conditioner? A big question, and we’d like to help you address it with a thought exercise: give your air conditioning system a rating for how well it performed over the summer. This will help you think about its future and what work, if any, it requires before the next heatwave arrives. (And there’s no guarantee that won’t occur before the end of the year!)
