Using a UV Light to Improve Indoor Air Quality

uvphotomax_1

People are understandably concerned about the quality of the air in their homes today. The air circulating through your HVAC system and through vents can pick up numerous contaminants, including harmful bacteria, viruses, and germs. These pollutants will continue to circulate through the rooms of your house unless something is done to remove them.

You do have options to improve your air quality and purify the air of many of the most harmful contaminants in it. There are various filters and air purifiers available. But if you want to eliminate airborne bacteria and viruses, we recommend you talk to us about installing a UV light air purifier.

How UV Air Purifiers Work

The wavelengths of ultraviolet light are harmful to organic tissue. This is why you want your skin shielded from UV rays when you go outside. These rays can be used to your benefit when they’re installed into the ductwork of your HVAC system and targeted at the circulating air. The UV rays will either kill or neutralize the harmful organics moving through the light—the ultraviolet lights disrupt the cellular functions of the cells, which either kills them outright or prevents them from reproducing, making them inert.

When you pair a powerful UV light air purifier with the right air filters and good hygiene practices such as washing your hands and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, you can enjoy better health in your home around the year.*

*There is much to consider regarding the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) and its possible transmission in your home. While there are various and effective indoor air quality measures available to help protect your safety, including duct sanitization, ultraviolet (UV) germicidal light treatment, and HEPA air filters, they alone cannot protect from all forms of COVID-19 transmission. It is important to follow all official guidelines for preventing the spread of this virus.

**UVPhotoMAX™ PCO air purifiers are high performance systems that are adjustable to specific environments and will offer best performance when installed by an indoor air quality expert, who can help you evaluate your home’s IAQ needs, your particular HVAC system, find the best location for the equipment and adjust it for peak performance.
